1999年紐約時報以《高貴耀眼，無懈可擊的演出》盛讚她的舞台風采。同年獲得吳三連文藝獎，2000年榮獲國家文藝獎舞蹈獎。

早年隨劉鳳學教授習現代舞，並加入新古典舞團，擔任《秋江》、《洛神》等舞劇的主角。國立台灣大學外文系畢業後，赴美於瑪莎•葛蘭姆舞團、艾文•艾利舞團、以及荷西•李蒙舞團習舞。1979年返國加入雲門舞集，多次隨團赴世界各地巡演。1982年再度赴紐約進修，並參與百老匯名劇《國王與我》，與尤伯連納同台演出巡迴全美。1985年獲紐約大學舞蹈碩士。返國後再度歸隊雲門，並執教於國立台北藝術大學舞蹈系，是國內最受矚目的舞者及編舞家之一，曾多次應邀赴香港城市當代舞團及香港多層株式會社擔任客席舞者。1991年製作國家劇院《給舞蹈新鮮人》系列活動，1992年主持《台北國際舞蹈會議》，1995年主辦《國際舞蹈節》系列活動，深獲好評。曾任國立藝術學院舞蹈系系主任及研究所所長，創辦該系七年一貫制舞蹈教育系統，目前擔任雲門舞集2藝術總監。

歷年來重要編舞作品包括：《蘆葦地帶》《蛇的練習三種》、《牧神的午後》、《騷動的靈魂》、《蝕》、《天國出走》、《天空之城》、《心之安放》、《兩人之間》、《羽化》、《也許》、《短歌》、《綠色大地》、《城市邊緣》、《匯流》、《走過大地》、《與風景對話》、《日月流轉》等。

Choreographer of Reed Field. Renowned dancer and choreographer in Asia, Lo Man-fei is a co-founder of the Taipei Crossover Dance Company. She holds an MFA in Dance from New York University. As a young talent, Lo began her professional career in 1974 with the Neo-Classic Dance Company in Taiwan. She later continued her training at the Martha Graham School, the Alvin Ailey School of American Dance, and the Jose Limon Dance School in New York.

Her major choreographic works includes Three Etudes: The Snake, Restless Souls, Chronicle of a Floating City, City of the Sky, The Place Where the Heart is, The Beginning and Paradise Lost. Lo served as chairperson of the Dance Department of the National Institute of the Arts (NIA) in Taiwan from 1992-1997. She is currently an Associate Professor at Taipei National University of the Arts, and the Artistic Director of Cloud Gate 2.
